Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy provides services to help regain the skills needed to return home. Our occupational therapists at Zearing Health Care Center work with residents who have an array of varying diagnosis that has their abilities interrupted by injury, illness, disease progression, or surgery. Occupational therapists establish goals for patients to learn, or relearn, including activities of daily living with the ultimate goal of returning home, if it safely possible.

Occupational Therapy Service We Offer

• Upper body strengthening, to have the ability to dress, toilet, and other activities necessary to return home;
• Transfer training, to be able to safely demonstrate the ability to get up and transfer;
• Wheelchair management, for those who are wheelchair-bound so they are comfortable and at a low risk of skin breakdown;
• Cognition to make sure Residents' can rationally demonstrate they are safe, and able to make appropriate decisions, before returning home.
